Table of Contents
1. Introduction
These Payment Terms govern all financial transactions on the JDM Registry platform, including buyer payments, seller payouts, platform fees, and related processes. By using our payment features, you agree to these terms.
These Payment Terms are part of and incorporate our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. In case of conflict, these Payment Terms take precedence for payment-related matters.
2. Definitions
For the purposes of these Payment Terms:
- "Buyer" means a user who purchases a vehicle or initiates a transaction through the platform.
- "Seller" means a user who lists and sells a vehicle on the platform.
- "Platform" or "JDM Registry" means our marketplace service and associated payment infrastructure.
- "Transaction" means the sale of a vehicle from a Seller to a Buyer facilitated through the platform.
- "Payout" means the transfer of funds from the platform to a Seller after a transaction is completed.
- "Fee" or "Platform Fee" means the service charge retained by JDM Registry for facilitating transactions.
- "Payment Method" means the payment gateway or method configured by platform administrators (e.g., Stripe, PayMongo).
- "Payout Profile" means a Seller's configured payment destination (GCash, bank transfer, etc.).
3. Supported Payment Methods
JDM Registry supports various payment methods, which may be configured by platform administrators and can change over time. Common payment methods include:
- Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)
- GCash and other e-wallets
- Bank transfers
- Other payment gateways as configured by administrators
Note: Available payment methods are determined by platform configuration and may vary by region or transaction type. Payment methods are subject to change without prior notice, though active transactions will be honored using the originally selected method.
Payment processing is handled through third-party payment providers. You agree to comply with their terms of service and privacy policies when making payments.
4. Payment Process and Flow
Transactions on JDM Registry follow this general flow:
Buyer Payment Process
- Transaction Initiation: Buyer agrees to purchase a vehicle and initiates payment through the platform.
- Payment Collection: Buyer pays the full transaction amount to JDM Registry using their chosen payment method.
- Payment Confirmation: Platform confirms payment receipt and notifies both Buyer and Seller.
- Vehicle Transfer: Buyer and Seller arrange for vehicle inspection, documentation, and transfer (off-platform).
- Payment Release: After confirmation (see Section 6), funds are released to the Seller minus platform fees.
Platform's Role
JDM Registry acts as a payment facilitator and service provider. When a Buyer makes a payment:
- The payment is made to JDM Registry, not directly to the Seller
- We hold the funds temporarily while the transaction is being completed
- We may deduct applicable platform fees before releasing funds to the Seller
- We release funds to the Seller according to our release policy (Section 6)
5. Manual Escrow Payment Process
When automated payment gateways are unavailable or not configured, JDM Registry may offer a manual escrow payment option. This section describes the manual payment verification process.
When Manual Escrow Applies
Manual escrow is used when:
- Automated payment gateways (Stripe, PayMongo) are not configured or available
- Platform administrators have enabled manual escrow mode
- Specific transaction types require manual processing
Manual Escrow Process
- Payment Instructions: Buyer receives QR code and/or bank transfer details for the platform's designated payment account.
- Fund Transfer: Buyer transfers the agreed amount using GCash, bank transfer, or other supported methods.
- Consent Acknowledgment: Buyer must accept manual escrow terms and acknowledge the risks involved.
- Email Verification: Buyer verifies their email via one-time password (OTP) to confirm identity.
- Proof Submission: Buyer uploads proof of payment (screenshot/photo) along with transaction details (sender name, reference number, amount, date).
- Admin Review: Platform administrators manually verify the payment against actual account records.
- Verification Result: Payment is marked as verified (releasing order progress) or rejected (with reason provided).
Processing Timeline
Manual payment verification typically takes:
- Standard: 1-3 business days for initial review
- Complex Cases: Up to 5 business days if additional verification is needed
- Weekends/Holidays: Processing may be delayed during non-business days
Rejection Reasons
Payment verification may be rejected if:
- Proof of payment cannot be verified against platform records
- Amount transferred does not match the expected amount
- Transaction details (reference number, sender name) cannot be confirmed
- Proof appears to be altered, fraudulent, or reused
- Payment was made to an incorrect account
- Multiple submissions detected for the same transaction
If rejected, buyers may resubmit with correct information or contact support for assistance.
Data Collection
During manual escrow verification, we collect and retain:
- Payment proof images and transaction details
- IP address and device information at time of submission
- Email verification timestamps and OTP usage
- Admin review notes and decision history
See our Privacy Policy Section 6 for full details on escrow metadata collection.
6. Not an Escrow Service - Important Disclaimer
⚠️ CRITICAL NOTICE
JDM REGISTRY IS NOT AN ESCROW SERVICE AND DOES NOT PROVIDE ESCROW PROTECTION.
Unlike traditional escrow services that verify condition, authenticity, and delivery before releasing funds, JDM Registry operates as a managed payout platform.
This means:
- We do NOT physically inspect vehicles before releasing payment
- We do NOT verify that the vehicle matches its description
- We do NOT guarantee vehicle condition, authenticity, or legal status
- We do NOT mediate disputes beyond our release policy
- We CANNOT reverse payments after they have been released to Sellers
Buyer Responsibilities
Buyers are STRONGLY ADVISED to:
- Physically inspect the vehicle before confirming the transaction
- Verify all documentation with relevant authorities (LTO, etc.)
- Request a professional mechanical inspection
- Verify ownership and ensure no outstanding liens or obligations
- Only confirm payment release after satisfactory vehicle transfer
- Consider purchasing from reputable sellers with positive reviews
DO NOT confirm payment release until you have physically received and verified the vehicle. Once released, funds generally cannot be recovered.
Seller Responsibilities
Sellers must:
- Accurately represent vehicles in all listings
- Provide complete and genuine documentation
- Facilitate reasonable inspection opportunities for Buyers
- Transfer ownership legally and completely
- Not pressure Buyers to confirm payment release prematurely
7. Payment Release Policy
Funds are held by JDM Registry until one of the following release conditions is met:
Buyer Confirmation (Primary Release Method)
The Buyer may confirm successful vehicle receipt and documentation transfer through the platform. Upon confirmation:
- Funds are released to the Seller (minus platform fees)
- Release typically occurs within 1-3 business days
- Buyer confirmation is generally final and irreversible
Buyer Protection Tip: Only confirm after you have physically received the vehicle, verified all documentation, and are satisfied with the condition and transfer process.
Automatic Release (Time-Based)
If the Buyer does not confirm within a specified period (typically 14-30 days, as configured by administrators), funds may be automatically released to the Seller, provided:
- No dispute has been filed
- No fraud indicators have been detected
- Both parties have communicated appropriately through the platform
Automatic release timelines may vary and are subject to platform discretion and configuration.
Administrative Override
JDM Registry administrators may manually release or hold funds in cases of:
- Disputes between Buyer and Seller
- Suspected fraud or policy violations
- Incomplete documentation or verification issues
- Legal requests or regulatory requirements
- Technical issues with automatic processes
Administrative decisions are made at our sole discretion and are generally final, though we will make reasonable efforts to resolve disputes fairly.
Hold Periods and Delays
Payment release may be delayed or held for:
- Active disputes or investigations
- Suspected fraudulent activity
- Incomplete Seller payout profiles
- Verification or compliance checks
- Payment gateway processing times
- Banking or holiday delays
8. Fees and Charges
JDM Registry charges fees for facilitating transactions. Fee structures are determined by platform administrators and may vary over time.
Platform Fees
Platform fees are typically deducted from the transaction amount before releasing funds to Sellers. Fee amounts may be:
- A percentage of the transaction value (e.g., 5-10%)
- A flat fee per transaction
- A combination of percentage and flat fees
- Variable based on subscription tier or transaction value
Fees are disclosed during the transaction process and are typically visible to both Buyers and Sellers before payment is initiated.
Payment Processing Fees
Third-party payment processors (Stripe, PayMongo, etc.) may charge additional fees. These fees may be:
- Included in our platform fee
- Passed through to Buyers or Sellers as separate line items
- Variable based on payment method (credit cards typically have higher fees than bank transfers)
Payout/Withdrawal Fees
Sellers may incur fees when receiving payouts, depending on the chosen payout method:
- GCash transfers may have nominal fees
- Bank transfers may incur processing fees
- International payouts (if supported) may have higher fees and currency conversion charges
Fee Structure Changes
We reserve the right to modify our fee structure at any time. Changes will:
- Be announced through platform notifications or email
- Not affect transactions already in progress
- Apply to new transactions initiated after the change date
9. Seller Payouts
Sellers must configure a valid Payout Profile to receive funds from completed transactions.
Payout Methods
Supported payout methods may include:
- GCash: Direct transfer to registered GCash mobile number
- Bank Transfer: Direct deposit to Philippine bank accounts
- Other methods: As configured by administrators (e.g., PayMaya, bank checks)
Sellers are responsible for ensuring their payout information is accurate and up-to-date. JDM Registry is not liable for payouts sent to incorrect or outdated information.
Payout Timing
Payout processing times vary by method and circumstances:
- GCash: Typically 1-2 business days after release approval
- Bank Transfer: Typically 2-5 business days after release approval
- Delays: May occur due to verification, compliance checks, or banking holidays
Timing estimates are not guarantees. Actual payout times may vary based on payment gateway processing, banking infrastructure, and verification requirements.
Verification Requirements
Before processing payouts, we may require Sellers to:
- Verify identity through government-issued ID
- Provide proof of bank account or GCash ownership
- Complete KYC (Know Your Customer) processes
- Submit additional documentation for large transactions
Verification helps prevent fraud and comply with anti-money laundering regulations.
Payout Limits and Thresholds
Payout limits may apply based on:
- Seller verification status
- Account history and reputation
- Payment method limitations (e.g., GCash daily limits)
- Regulatory requirements
10. Mechanics Marketplace Payments
The mechanics marketplace uses a similar payment structure for service transactions between customers and mechanics.
Service Pricing
Mechanics set their own service prices. Pricing displayed is:
- Starting prices: Base prices for standard service scope
- Estimates only: Final price may vary based on actual work required
- Subject to agreement: Customer and mechanic must agree on final price before work begins
Service Payment Flow
- Customer requests service and receives quote from mechanic
- Customer accepts quote and agrees to pricing
- Customer pays via automated gateway or manual escrow (if enabled)
- Mechanic performs the service
- Mechanic marks service as complete
- Customer confirms completion (or auto-confirms after 48 hours)
- Funds released to mechanic minus platform fees
Mechanics Marketplace Fees
Platform fees for mechanics marketplace transactions:
- Platform fee: [X]% of transaction value (as configured by administrators)
- Payment processing: Standard payment gateway fees apply
- Minimum fees: May apply for small transactions
Fees are deducted from the mechanic's payout. Customers pay the agreed service price only.
Service Disputes
For disputes regarding mechanic services:
- Disputes must be raised before confirming service completion
- Both parties should attempt to resolve issues directly first
- Platform may mediate disputes on a case-by-case basis
- Refunds are not guaranteed and depend on circumstances
- Platform decision on disputes is final
11. Refunds and Disputes
Refund policies are determined on a case-by-case basis and depend on the specific circumstances of each transaction.
Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be considered in cases of:
- Seller failure to deliver the vehicle or documentation
- Significant misrepresentation or fraud by the Seller
- Mutual agreement between Buyer and Seller to cancel the transaction
- Payment processing errors or duplicate charges
Important: Refunds are generally NOT available after the Buyer has confirmed payment release or after funds have been transferred to the Seller. Buyers must conduct due diligence before confirming.
Dispute Resolution Process
If a dispute arises, users should:
- Attempt to resolve the issue directly through platform messaging
- Contact JDM Registry support with detailed information and evidence
- Provide documentation (messages, photos, inspection reports, etc.)
- Await administrative review and decision
JDM Registry will review disputes and make decisions at our sole discretion. Decisions consider available evidence, platform policies, and applicable laws, but are not binding arbitration or legal judgments.
Refund Processing
If a refund is approved:
- Refunds are processed to the original payment method
- Processing may take 5-10 business days depending on the payment provider
- Refunded amounts may exclude non-refundable fees (if applicable)
- Partial refunds may be issued in appropriate cases
12. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
A chargeback occurs when a Buyer disputes a charge directly with their bank or credit card company, bypassing JDM Registry's dispute resolution process.
Chargeback Policy
Chargebacks can have serious consequences:
- We will investigate all chargebacks and provide evidence to payment processors
- If a chargeback is successful, the transaction amount is reversed
- If funds have already been paid out to a Seller, we may pursue recovery from the Seller
- Excessive chargebacks may result in account suspension or termination
- Users who file fraudulent chargebacks may be permanently banned
Preventing Chargebacks
To avoid chargebacks:
- Buyers: Use our dispute resolution process instead of filing chargebacks
- Buyers: Only confirm payment release after verifying the vehicle
- Sellers: Provide accurate listings and complete documentation
- Sellers: Communicate clearly and respond promptly to Buyer inquiries
- Both: Keep records of all communications and transaction details
13. Verification and Fraud Prevention
To protect all users and comply with regulations, we implement various verification and fraud prevention measures:
Identity and KYC Verification
- Sellers may be required to verify identity before receiving payouts
- Large transactions may trigger additional verification requirements
- We may request government-issued IDs, proof of address, or other documents
- Verification protects against identity theft and fraud
Fraud Detection and Prevention
- We monitor transactions for suspicious activity
- Unusual patterns may trigger holds or additional verification
- We cooperate with payment processors' fraud prevention systems
- Accounts suspected of fraud may be suspended pending investigation
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance
JDM Registry complies with applicable anti-money laundering regulations, which may require:
- Monitoring and reporting of large or suspicious transactions
- Customer due diligence and enhanced verification
- Record-keeping of transaction details
